Book Talks |
|||
| In an author/illustrator presentation I talk about how a book begins. When I visit your school I will bring manuscripts with all their corrections, book dummies, and artist's proofs. Beginning with the editor's comments to the typesetter's job, I show how a book is made and about some of the people who take the author's idea and turn it into a book we can read. | ![]() |

| For the younger classes, kindergarten to second grade, using ABCDrive!, the children are the authors and I am the illustrator as we start our own ABC book. |
| With children from second grade and up, I talk about the parts of a story and how, using a tale we all know such as The Gingerbread Boy, we can start our own class fairy tale. We begin with a story idea and then add character, setting, and plot, creating a funny and wild story of our own. |
Groups of two or three classrooms (40 to 60 students) are preferred as then I can answer more questions that the children may ask. I will do 3 or 4 45 minute presentations in one day at your school. Please contact me at naomiphowland@gmail.com or 909-626-4611 for scheduling and costs. |
